SUPPORTING THE GROWTH OF ALL ARTISTS IN THE MIDWEST
WHY
WE’RE
HERE
KCMOves is a dynamic dance festival held in Kansas City, Missouri at the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory, offering a rich lineup of workshops, classes, auditions, lectures, and the MOves Film Festival. Designed to immerse dancers from across the country in the depth and diversity of the Midwest arts scene, the festival brings together artists from local, regional, and national communities, alongside established professional companies.
At its core, KCMOves is a space for growth, exploration, and connection. Participants train with distinguished faculty representing a wide range of styles and professional experiences, while engaging in an environment that encourages curiosity, versatility, and artistic risk-taking. Beyond the studio, the festival fosters meaningful professional relationships—creating pathways between emerging artists and industry leaders.
Through firsthand exposure to high-caliber talent, performance opportunities, and interdisciplinary dialogue, KCMOves supports the development of both young and pre-professional dancers. The inclusion of the MOves Film Festival expands the experience into the world of dance on screen, highlighting innovative storytelling and the evolving landscape of the art form.
Rooted in community yet expansive in reach, KCMOves celebrates the spirit of movement as both craft and expression—inviting participants to deepen their artistry, broaden their perspectives, and find their place within a larger creative network. The festival is open to dancers ages 15 and up.
